Kalea ("we", "our", "the app") is operated by Ipanema Beauty. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Account data: Email address and password (hashed) when you create an account. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID and optionally your email.
Food journal data: Meal descriptions, calorie and macro estimates, photos you choose to submit for AI analysis, and barcode scan results.
Health data: Weight entries you log manually. If you grant HealthKit access, we read weight data from Apple Health and write nutrition data back. Health data never leaves your device except to sync to your private Supabase account.
Usage analytics: We use PostHog (EU-hosted) to collect anonymous usage events like screen views and feature usage. Analytics are opt-out by default and can be disabled in Settings.
Device data: Device type, OS version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility.
When you type a meal description or submit a photo, this data is sent to our server (Supabase Edge Functions) which forwards it to an AI model (Claude by Anthropic) for calorie estimation. We do not store your photos after analysis. Meal descriptions are cached temporarily to reduce API costs and improve response times.
Your data is stored in Supabase (hosted in the EU) with Row Level Security (RLS) ensuring you can only access your own data. Passwords are hashed. All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS. Food journal data is also stored locally on your device using SwiftData for offline access.

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. Cached AI responses are automatically purged after 90 days.
Kalea is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
